New Qi at Work:
Relief's on the Way
The ancient art and science of Qigong enhances our own capacity to heal our bodies. For more than 1,500 years, Shaolin monks have used the movements of Qigong to stay healthy and mindful. This is the first time this series has been shown to the West. These movements were specifically designed by Grand Master Shi Yan Xu to help you look and feel better, relieve pain, anxiety, and the stress office work and siting at a computer creates for your neck, back, and shoulders.
Thinking in terms of how we experience energy today, Qi is still commonly understood as an end state, which is a state of good health and wellness. When we are in optimal physical and mental health, we feel energetic yet calm. When we are depressed and weighed down by stress at work, we feel pain and stiffness in our necks, shoulders, and backs. Often, this symptom-based view of health always precipitates a quick pharmaceutical fix, whether it be ibuprofen, aspirin, or other medications.
The Shaolin Tradition Renews Body and Mind
The Masters’ philosophy on health sees Qi as the driver of our biological cycles. We learned in high school biology that the body renews and regenerates each month cyclically. In the Shaolin tradition, Qi travels and nourishes our body throughout this cycle. As life inevitably takes its toll, our meridians experience blockages. In this video series, we will show you how to read these indicators and understand how they relate to your overall well-being.
More importantly, this series extracts the essence of the Shaolin discipline so that we can heal ourselves and help relieve the damage office work can cause. By combining the physical craft of Wu Shu (Martial Arts) with the mental practice of Zen Buddhist Meditation, Qigong, translated by each Chinese character, is “Energy Practice.” Through this 1500-year-old series, we hope to show you how to recharge and modulate your Qi, observe your energy levels, and eventually, improve your overall health.
The Problem When Work Is a Pain
We are under constant stress and duress in our daily lives. When we sit and work in the same positions for extended periods of time, we suffer from the usual office gripes: neck, shoulder, and back pain. What we see as bad circulation, the Shaolin Tradition sees as a stagnation in energy flow to these parts of the body.
